Why Pawdwell
It was after midnight when I heard a kitten meowing outside my front door. She was about two months old, tiny and covered in injuries.
When I opened the door, she ran straight past me, into my bedroom—and pooped on my pillow.
That was our introduction.
The pillow had to go. She stayed. I named her Tangyuan, after the sweet rice balls we eat in China.
Getting better. Making herself at home.
Our first days together involved trips to the vet, treatment, and time to recover. Caring for her cost more than I’d expected. I hadn’t planned on having a cat, but now I had a little life to look after.
As she settled in, she started scratching the couch, the curtains, and the rug. So I started buying scratchers.
Some left cardboard bits everywhere. Some felt poorly made. Others simply didn’t fit the home I’d put so much care into.
I wanted her to have somewhere to scratch. I also wanted to like the things I brought into our home.
She made herself at home. I wanted her things to fit in, too.
After a few disappointing scratchers, I kept coming back to the same question: Why was it so hard to find one that felt well made and looked good in my living room?
That’s what got me started with PawDwell.
Choosing products is where I spend most of my time. I pay attention to the materials, the colors, and the little details. Would I want this next to my couch? Would it fit in with the rest of my home? Looks matter to me, but they aren’t enough on their own.
I’m starting small, with cat scratchers. Over time, I’d love to add more cat furniture, with the same idea in mind: give cats what they need without making their people settle for something they don’t love.
I never expected a kitten at my door to lead to all this
But I’m glad I let her in.
